hey got ubuntu server set up, automounts couple of external usb harddrives. wanna make folder links every file folders on usb drives special folder, possible? tryed doing "sudo ln -s /media/usb0/photos/*" , typed when in folder wanted links, told not create symbolic link, file exists? (translated error msg danish english) the correct syntax 'ln' ln -s target link_name target location want link point to, , link_name name of link want. don't believe can glob (i.e. use *). but, if want create symbolic link photos directory (let's say) home directory: code: ln -s /media/usb0/photos/ /home/<username>/photosonusb0 that create link in home folder (substitute <username> actual username!) that's called "photosonusb0" points photos folder on usb0. hope helps! after daylight time changes dreamweaver warns me files on server modified since put them last time.   so stored in local computer , server date's off 1 hour.   at first thought hacker modified files 1 hour after did make less obvious modification time, that's not case.   it doesn't happen 1 hour after, nor whole month. happened old files, , makes sense happens after daylight saving shift.   is there way fix it?   is there time zone or similar setup need make?   my computer has correct time.   i spoke host , don't find issue nor malicious code modifying files. ip has modified files.   thanks. do work 1 system? i have @ least 3 edits , uploads from, , see time when i'm not on machine last uploaded from. i new linux user , have linux mint installed (maya). haven't gotten responses on issue @ forums, , think it's generic enough try here. have installed open-ssh. having difficulty connecting remotely server. running stock sshd_config. here steps i've tried results: 1) port forwarding through 2 chained routers: have 2 services running require forwarding. 1 torrent client running on windows box, other ssh on linux mint laptop. can see open torrent client port, not ssh (port 22) remote port scan. eliminate possible router issues, set both routers dmz mode, , still not see ssh port or connect remote location. torrent client port on windows box still registers open. 2) ssh connections behind routers, both windows box using putty, terminal in mac laptop, , third linux machine successful. 3) i've checked iptables, , every policy seems set accept. see below. i've posted route -n results if that's heplful. given dmz enabled still pre

in past few months, can no longer use creative pc cam 300 webcam (usb, 041e:400a). when plug in, no video device appears in /dev/ it. poking around, i've discovered model of camera has entry in /lib/udev/rules.d/40-libgphoto2-2.rules seems load sort of photo downloading driver takes precedence on video functionality require. (this model of camera can, in theory, used portable stills camera low image quality, ever use webcam.) when comment out relevant line in /lib/udev/rules.d/40-libgphoto2-2.rules, webcam works should do. when uncomment line, stops working again. commenting out line in udev rules file in /lib/udev/rules.d/ not proper solution, liable overwritten during software updates. can guide me towards proper solution problem? not care if can no longer download photos camera. use webcam. have tried copying libgphoto2-2.rules file new file /etc/udev/rules.d/45-libgphoto2-2.rules , commenting out relevant line. not solve problem.

i have slides audio, , want slide duration few seconds longer slide audio time reflects how long lesson is. of them 400-500 seconds right now, when should less.   they have buttons pause move between slides. have tried cut slide off second or 2 after slide pauses editing slide properties , changing time. worked on first 3 slides, on last 3 doesn't accept shorter time , jumps whatever amount of time before. example, want slide 5 36s in length,but @ 453.3 seconds, , every time try change it reverts immediately.   calculate caption timing not on, , nothing new appears on timeline after slide pauses @ 34 seconds.   thanks! just question: talking static slides or cpvc-slides (video demo). 400-500 seconds seems very, long. how long audio clip? maybe post screenshot of timeline?   btw mention exact version number, please. hi, have sound-blaster extigy sound card 5.1 sound system. info, extigy external usb sound-card, ac3 , dolby digital compatible , coming ir remote control. 1 of interesting feature of card ability work without computer. have tv (line-in) , dvd player (s/pdif coaxial in) attached card and, remote control, no need fire computer control sound card. think have problem described in bug report when try use 5.1 analog output. anyway, need s/pdif input, don't want use analog 5.1 on card i'm surprised see bug still there 2 years after. since card works nicely s/pdif, want use option stereo music (from amarok) , surround sound (from xbmc). amarok, select "stereo analog (iec958 )" in pulse audio volume control , voila. in xbmc, use custom audio output: hw:extigy,2 both stereo , ac3 pass-through. stereo content, no problem. ac3, there no sound coming out rear , center speakers. front left , front right working. there led on sound-card lights whenever v

since updating mavericks, ae cc no longer opens.   creative cloud claims ae cc date.   i unable install 12.1 or 12.2 updates manually. simplt says "update failled - contact support if problem persists"     note: premiere, bridge, indesign, illustrator, photoshop , flash cc appear working fine. same problem here (posted forum accident).   i cannot launch after effects 12.0 or 12.2 on 10.9 (mavericks) mac. tried uninstalling , reinstalling, , building new installer. upon launching, ae says "the application "adobe after effects cc" can't opened." -10810. forcing update fails because says updates suppresed administrator, not (i admin). help??
