hi have quite 2 big problems ssd crucial m4. have bought new laptop lenovo y580 without ssd half year ago. 3 month ago have bought new ssd crucial m4 256 gb , put laptop. , problem started. have bualboot win 7 , kubuntu 12.04. sometimes, when working kubuntu, laptop stucks (it twice day). , helps hard restart. have no same problems on win 7. 1 day when stucks leave stucked hour (maybe run again), doesnt help. , after hard restart, stuck again , again. helps start win 7 , run of hour , after can run kubuntu. other problem when working, writtin in kubuntu active window become non active , when want continue in writing must click on window mouse. happen twice in minute. solution restart computer, run win7 wait , reboot kubuntu. both problems awful. tried update ssd firmware. updating succesfull, mentionted problems begun appear in 3 times shorter period. , last note, there no problems when have original hdd. have cant stand anymore. every advice.

hi, have strange browsing problem driving me nuts. 1 particular website access quith www.stags.co.uk automatically diverts m.stags.co.uk version of site designed viewing on mobile device. problem not occur on windows machine - wife's xp desktop or presumably others. problem started month ago. occurs both on desktop machine running ubuntu 11.04 , laptop runs 12.04. both google chrome , firefox equally affected. have complained stags don't seem able end. has ideas? many richard i see same thing. know how change user agent string? try replacing current 1 windows one. may happen site browser-sniffing , doesn't recognize user agent string used linux versions of chrome , firefox. anyone have thought on this: have 500gb drive data, shows /dev/sda in top right corner of gparted. sata drive. in table below under partition shows /dev/sda1 error saying superblock problem. drive seems working fine. i've looked @ tune2fs, e2fsck, , fdisk - no problems indicated. here main point in gpart partition /dev/sda1, none of other apps can find sda1, see sda. i'm in on head, appears gparted trying read partition isn't there, sda1 , giving error. entire drive 1 partition think sda, gparted isn't seeing. why gparted getting sda1 rather sda? in fstab drives called uuid. want add swap partition drive , gparted won't it, assume because of error. "sda" isn't partition, it's name of device. must have @ least 1 partition on device use it, , sda1 . no other program can mount "sda" either, partition "sda1" can mounted. programs referen

noob, linux user here. starting wanted give heads on moving on ubuntu , experience. installed ubuntu on wifes netbook 64bit os, while loaded fine not boot stopped after bios post, when tried force boot hdd, gave me post error stating no os found. boot using usb loaded os. reinstalled ubuntu 32 , system off , running no issues. wondering others able install on atom n455 using 64bit os or chip due gma 3150 integrated gpu , 2gb max single channel ram causing issues in loading of 64bit ubuntu os. fact 32bit has absolutely no issues makes me wonder. i'm using ubuntu 12.04lts 64 bit in atom media center. grub error during installation caused can't boot hd. download alternate install cd, burn standard cd, , boot it. then, text menu appear , there option restore grub. not ubuntu specific, here anyway help. problem: a) hard drive indicator stop blinking or goes dead , computer freezes. @ point have hard reboot, keyboard/mouse not respond. neither special commands, ctrl-alt-(function keys) f7/f1/f3/f12 respond. b) when hard reboot, there no guarantee computer boot again. when happens i've noticed hard drive light never comes on boot. @ point wait 10 mins or more , pray , forsure boots later, may freeze again. tried , concluded: tr1: problem not related software: tried fresh installs of system (win 7, xp, ubuntu), have problem. hardware spec: t61 lenovo, nvidia 140m, hitatchi 100gb drive, 2gb ram. machine more 5 yrs old, i've replaced fan on once. attaching hard disk results smartmontools. request: a) can please advise how read result? if hard drive do? hard drive need replacement? b) there way rule out mobo / graphics card issues? in advance

i doing newsletter university, , i'm looking clarification on font usage. few years ago, bought few fonts use on personal projects. use of these fonts newsletter. university wants me clarify whether right me use fonts if university has not purchased rights use them. can point me in right direction on and/or maybe link citation? can conceptually see arguments both sides, don't want blindly assume. thanks. if use fonts on computer (and additional maximum number of computer font licensed to) not problem. not allowed transfer font other or additional computer. i installed ubuntu 12.10. use u.s. keyboard, , know how customize keyboard add french accents. mean, don't want change layout, layout fine. however, able make keystroke (exple : ctrl+alt+ w) in order make è. then, other keystrokes other accents. checked in system>keyboard. did not find answer. can create shortcuts open program, no shortcuts accent. in windows, used keyboard layout manager or autohotkey. there program use customize keyboard? in advance. mike why not use (international) layout can 'e é , `e è etc.? that's called dead keys , i'd it's easier remember ctrl+alt+d , not. i have netbook installed lubuntu 12.04. upgrade newest version 12.10. when upgrade have finish, , reboot netbook, starting not go lubuntu. stuck black screen askin username , password. so, have install again clean style same problem: startup not go graphite login, stay balck screen. image not netboot, same: type ubuntu user name , , password login .. see if able reach desktop . if not , may need reconfigure x .
