hi, couple of years i've been running xubuntu qemu/ virsh , using virt-manager instability in host , zombie processes caused upgrades 10.10 through 12.04 led me install server version , put vm's back. installed headless because want minimum resource taken host , because of former issues zombie processes. (lightdm seemed problem). i've searched threads , had @ qemu website , cannot seem find web interface virsh. there phpvirtualbox , virtualbox headless, , redhat has ovirt seems @ enterprise level rather want basic interface. 1 thread here mentioned have webmin module (couple of years ago , believe there licensing issue web min). can use virt-manager on old laptop ubuntu on it, main development machines macs, web interface exist ? simple php version nice, system comprises of 4 persistent vm's (file server, database backup server, apple time machine , web server cloned destroyed many times month depending on clients). aware use command line

i've installed crunchbang linux statler alongside existing ubuntu natty narwhal , when rebooted after install got "hard disk boot sector invalid" message. suspecting installing grub during crunchbang install had caused problem, used super grub2 disc boot (both operating systems work fine, can't use hdd boot) , in ubuntu ran code: sudo update-grub , code: sudo grub-install /dev/sda problem persists. i'm not sure whether hardware error or software error, advice on how fix appreciated; in advance grub not use boot flag. windows has have boot flag on primary ntfs partition boot. bios throw boot error if no boot flag shown on primary partition. check have boot flag on primary partition. folks: have 12.04 ubuntu installed on 16gb flash drive, configured (drive(16 gb) = 722 mb fat32 + 14gb & more of ext4. casper-rw.) information, did install amd propriety video driver. did acronis backup of flash drive, experienced failed restoration on fat32 partition of flash drive. cannot boot usb, though can see files. therefore, did 12.04 pendrive install on fat32 partition , created empty ext4 partition. did acronis restoration of ext4 partition only. booted, have use ctrl-alt-f7 x desktop. should desktop without having hit ctrl-alt-f7? anyone? hi...   i don't profess tech genius, i'm hoping out there me out advice. main workstation intel imac 24", 5 years old, running mavericks, 500gb root drive, 1tb fw8000 lacie time machine, 6gigs of ram, connected home network , have 2 nas drives, both wds... 2tb mybooklive , 3tb mycloud.   my imac has been slowing down little little, , decided try purge as possible have 1/3rd of 500gb hdd free. use wd mybook 2tb drive project data storage, , of work adobe photoshop psds , pdfs. lot of graphics work , work requires lot of different fonts.  tons of free space on both nas drives fonts.   so thinking pc days, seem remember having 100 or fonts active helped performance, , iirc, did keep fonts stored on separate drive.   would able store unused/inactive fonts on nas or usb drives? we're talking 800-1000 fonts. , moving fonts off root hdd on imac performance?   one thing annoying me lately every once in while, imac freezes up. have reboot , fine... beachball isn't driving m

hello, haven't been here since nov. 2011 because switched windows after release of 11.x (i know, shame on me! i'll keep @ that) but... i want go ubuntu. i've tried in vm , feel unity has matured little, however, i cannot connect windows share. samba installed of course, , that's older versions of ubuntu required windows network filesharing work. does have information on how can work ? may have put off switching ubuntu until can ease, since have swap files windows (work) computer. going post /etc/smb.conf in next post (immediately below) can modified few things (in bold ), hoping able browse windows machines through nautilus' "browse network" link. instead "failed retrieve share list server when opening workgroup. if type command smb://{netbios_name_of_machine} authentication screen , i'm able browse share. i want able through gui, without muss or fuss, if possible. smb.conf below post need it. i'll check

hi!   right i'm figuring out, how migrate aperture library lightroom 5.3. therefore use trial version of lightroom , aperture 3.5.1 on os x 10.9.1. to keep edits on raw files, exported them tiff files , imported them lightroom. unfortunately tiffs appear bright in lightroom. in screenshot can see preview showing tiff appear in aperture , brighter representation in lightroom. is there global gamma setting in lightroom haven't figured out yet?   jan ;-) go lr develop module, hold down alt key , click on 'reset' button in lower right-hand corner of screen. reset default develop settings, should remove adjustments may have been accidently applied tiff files.   you'll need "sync" reset state across tiff files imported lr.   there no gamma or other settings inside lr. use monitor profile, casue of issue. use hardware monitor calibrator (i1 display or spyder)?
