Quicktime video preview flaky in AE/Premiere/Decklink Studio 2

hello all,

firstly, i'm on mountain lion 10.8.5 on mac pro 4,1 32 gb ram, blackmagic decklink studio 2 desktop video 9.9.3, after effects 12.2 , premiere 7.2.1.

this issue i'm having experiencing inconsitent performance quicktime video preview in after effects via sdi out external video monitor.  video preview function expected , if switch ae application , switch back, external monitor go black , when drill "video preview" settings in ae, "output device" drop down list "computer monitor only" available device.  quitting , restarting ae fixes it, have power cycle machine menu options come back.

at first, believed problem linked having video preview turned on in premiere along side ae , have since disabled function in premiere current project i'm working on, delivers 2048x854 (which reason premiere incapable of displaying on external monitor unless nest 2048x854 sequence 1920x1080 sequence, ridiculous considering both after effects , resolve both capable of downscaling image playback on 1920x1080 video cards , monitors, digress).

disabling "blackmagic playback" in premiere hasn't fixed issue of inconsistent playback in ae.  side note, when playback via sdi work in both ae , premiere, 2 apps seem fight on control of external monitor, 1 not giving control when switching , forth between 2 apps.  have checked , unchecked "disable video output when in background" in premiere , neither seems have effect.  1 hope these 2 pieces of software have bit more compatibility hardware they're attached when switching , forth between composite i'm working on , edit composites live.  never had kind of issue switching forth between previous versions of ae , final cut pro.

any suggestions or guidence appreciated.

thanks!
