Thread: Universal Remote for A/V

hello people:

device can attach computer can control audio/video equipment via infrared (tv, cable box, tivo, etc.)

have searched , searched , found little information on exact product posting on many forums belong in hopes can lead me seek.

method of connect computer unimportant. can use serial port, usb, or parallel port, or have special plug in card.

hoping low cost device, desire flexibility great.

vision have simple box ir transmitter (maybe receiver can "learn" existing remoter) , able let computer work of scheduling, switching stations on cable box, , starting recordings on tivo able run macros switch stereo cd tv.

have looked several home brew projects hoping little more professional

harmony/logitech harmony 1100 looks attractive, (http://www.logitech.com/en-us/remote...s/harmony-1100) way expensive. kind of control without expensive touch screen , stand alone box.

help,
mark.

i trying find similar.
had remote , serial ir-receiver old tv-card, after lot of fiddling found out (most likely) serial port not work.

came across this:

http://www.minigadgets.nl/index.php?...000017&lang=nl

(in unlikely event don't speak dutch can use google translate )
can see it's lot cheaper. unfortunately, it's out of stock , been out of stock weeks. (does not stop them advertising "everything in stock")

claim work on os without needing drivers, should recognised keyboard , mouse.
if true, have disadvantages:
- work programs have keyboard shortcuts
- work if program has focus

might able work lirc, might warrant lot of fiddling.
