do have ubuntu supported phone manager android devises ? android not closed system competitors expect more applications come up. checking on manufacturer's websites not find 1 of them providing phone manager application linux. in such case options linux users have ? not talking abt wammu , gammu kind of applications still not comparable phone manager provided manufacturer. way run them through wine / virtual box. in case also, not give optimum result. have 1 has experience ? i got huawei software work in wine. can't see phone when using usb connection. have use wifi option. there no difference, have access features. ubuntu can see phone when use memory card option, mounted. wine can't access it. hey all. i'll try , concise can problem. month now, have been unable perform updates on 12.04 system. time try "sudo apt-get upgrade" receive prompt: e: syntax error /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/70debconf:5: junk @ end of file i have red dot in top of status bar saying installed packages have unmet dependencies. gives me option show updates in dropdown menu, won't execute commands when click on "show updates" or "install updates." second part of problem: i've tried doing fresh install of 12.10 on system couple of times now, install process never makes past point. stops progress @ "saving installed processes." i've been told may due iso image being corrupt or burn wasn't good, i've downloaded 2 different files , burned on 3 different discs , can't seem fix problem. if there's more information can provide please let me know. i'd upgrade system

i installed ubuntu 12.04.1 32-bit instead of 12.04.1 64-bit. made copy of thunderbird , frefox profile before doing so. when open thunderbird new defalut profile created (named m6rzzjis.default instead of old name el0vempw.default). copy contents of old default folder new 1 , overwrite there. works fine firefox doesn't work thunderbird: old mails / settings not found. when copy entire folder using old name , change reference in profile.ini old mail , settings don't show. what's wrong? how solve? thanks. have read thread? i noticed 12.10 released , found instructions upgrade 12.04 install. when loaded update manager , checked upgrade wasn't given option upgrade. i'm in process of downloading iso can install manually. hoping without undoing stuff have now. go gui "software updater" , select "settings". under "updates" tab, make sure have selected option "for new version" beside parameter "notify me of new ubuntu version". i'm going take guess , @ moment, you've got lts selected. best of luck! i'm having real troubles stuttery lag compiz. running 12.04 64-bit, current nvidia drivers 304.48 , geforce 560m graphics card. when have vertical sync turned on in ccsm windows , effects stutter when move them around. when have vertical sync turned off windows tearing when move them around. unity launcher gets buggy, when opening , closing things lags , doesn't indicate window has been closed, , not able open window again, home folder etc, before lag disappears. have tried nvidia 504.55 drivers same issues nvidia drivers notoriously buggy. personal experience (personal may work me) default nouveau works better. if find buggy unity 3d unbearable, use unity 2d. as of today, when boot ubuntu (i'm dual-booting mountain lion , ubuntu 12.04) on macbook pro 3,1 keyboard doesn't work @ all. it's not problem text field, though, because enabled on-screen clickable keyboard through accessibility , able log in. however, keyboard still didn't work! have 1 idea might have caused it, , keyboard backlight on when shut down mountain lion, haven't had chance try shutting down without on. i'm going try right after post , reply result. posted thread audio problem, appreciate if checked out. i have script i'm running on thousands of files. when running on cs6 using huge amount of ram (2.4gigs) , when reached 312 files processed caused "multi language screen of death" on mac. solution running 300 files @ time , restarting illustrator between batches.   most of users @ company still on 5.1, , pointed out couldn't open processed files natively, because saved 6. when move around workspace dark grey transparent bars appear ghosting top , bottom of workspace. if move go off screen disappear more made move around. tried restarting illustrator , laptop, have newest version of illustrator cc.     *update - appears happen in 1 file, when image i'm drawing on put on lower opacity. if have opaque there's no weird line ghosting, make more transparent lines start appearing. i having same problem. opened different file, , can see ghost images previous file had opened. it's faint, it's still there on workspace area.  heck that?????? kernel 3.2.0-31-generic came down pipeline other day (12.04 lts), , upgraded part of normal process. after that, wheels came off. no longer either login screen, grub menu, or except stupid "out of range" error message, problem had dealt ages ago updating grub right resolution. booting off live usb proved bozo no-no well. clicked on "try ubuntu" screen disintegrated morass of confused pixels, making totally unreadable, unusable mess. figured out how ubuntu live usb (protip: nomodeset), , reconfigured grub 6 times no change in results. finally, had grub repair utility purge grub , reinstall it. got there @ least grub menu, pick kernel. when tried latest kernel, however, got booted directly console. there, added x-swat ppa, , installed nvidia driver 295.49. after that, boot ubuntu using older kernel, 3.2.0-30-generic, , display works fine, @ least in ubuntu 2d. however, when try kernel 3.2.0-31, spewed console. btw, graphics card geforce 7

i downloaded lr5.3 file: lightroom_5_ls11_mac_5.3.dmg , clicked on file open it. after installing, lightroom 5.3 icon appears on top right of mac desktop, however, when open lightroom finder>applications still shows lr5.2c. clicked on lr5.3 icon on top right of screen , gives me original box clicked install lr5.3.   can tell me if doing wrong? additional information on above post: when right click on lr5.3 icon on desktop screen, following options:   eject lr5.3 burn lr5.3 disc duplicate copy lr5.3   should select 1 of these options (perhaps #4) or there way install update? so managed have fatal 2 disk crash , lost half of catalogue. luckily, recovered 1 of drives, renamed of files. using original file names (dumb mistake), , seems there no way recover them. in future using yyyymmdd-hhmmss keep things recoverable.   so @ moment have recovered , renamed files along lines (yyyymmdd-hhmmss). want rename links in catalogue match files have exif data, , think can recover files. of course, lightroom throwing roadblocks. i'd recover photos edits, there way rename files in catalogue match new files? i don't think there way without applying sql directly catalog (whilst not opened in (locked by) lightroom).   if want pursue, @ aglibraryfile table in .lrcat file using sqlite client app sqlitespy.   a word of caution: yyyymmdd-hhmmss not guarantee unique filenames, you'll need plan handle bursts etc..   ~r. hello forum community have done search forums, , not finding right answer... suggestions forgive me if covered somewhere, , guide me please. having issues installing: downloaded ubuntu site http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop iso burn cd burned cd power iso repeat step again both versions 12.04 , 12.10 rather install alongside, using clean 500 gig drive. set bios boot cd 1st, drive 2nd insert cd power cycle, , "disk boot failure" both cd's verify fine against file during burn. have searched ubuntu site check-sum (md5, , other?) did not locate this. decided download windows version installer, 12.10 , ran that, chose drive wanted ubuntu on, did 2 hour download files, gave message of "setup/ installation failure" setup exit. figured take 3 or 4 hours download, burn , install ubuntu, , have become concerned @ 14 hours far, , no progress. should have come here lot earlier, , wishing share concern of how long taking change wind

there project assigned me has several parts. of parts, have no idea how third part. first part is: on linux or windows host machine, install virtual machine software. create 3 virtual machines on host machine. each virtual machine installed of linux os.i have implemented this. second part is: configure virtual machines accessible remotely remote desktop protocol (rdp). have done 1 also. third 1 , 1 have problem is eploy web server. create web page contains rdp clients. each rdp client should correspond virtual machine. when clicks rdp client icon, pop window should given display remote desktop environment of virtual machines s/he working locally in front of virtual machine. now, how on earth can that? ideas? know can install apache on host , use guacamoleto in order access anywhere , operating system. long browser supports html5 , ajax, there other ones out there on java also. different. 3 virtual machines have accessible single web-page. guacamole cannot far know

help! beginner , having problems rendering quality......i have put video on premiere elements 12 when play whole thing pops box recommending render better quality & smoother playback when render quality of of clips go pixilated , poor quality.  quality sooooo better without rendering problem when isn't rendered after 4 minutes of playback starts freezing , jumping. there way smooth playback without rendering , effecting image quality? rendering timeline way smooth out playback of timeline , save getting out of memory messages. doesn't effect final of output movie.   meantime, can improve quality of playback right-clicking on monitor , setting playback quality best. will, of course, put bit more of challenge on computer hardware keep up. i tried compiling util-linux (version 2.22-rc2) source , used "sudo checkinstall -d". wouldn't install ran "dpkg -i" on .deb file created, , (stupidly) forced install. sort of installed, commands fsck didn't work, tried uninstalling it. running "sudo apt-get install --reinstall util-linux" gave this: code: apt-get install --reinstall util-linux reading package lists... done building dependency tree reading state information... done reinstallation of util-linux not possible, cannot downloaded. 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 remove , 0 not upgraded and "sudo apt-get install util-linux" said installed. rebooted , computer won't boot. after enter encryption password, line appeared (i'm not using boot splash): code: mount: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libmount.so.1: version `mount_2.21' not found (required mount) then shut down, , computer won't boot. how force reinstall of util-linux? ed

hey there, have 2 nvidia 560's both dual monitor. of might know, seems way run 4 monitor setup run each pair of monitors own twinview, stitch them using xinerama. creates 2 large "screens" each span 2 monitors. unfortunately, xinerama old , outdated. , around time ubuntu 11.04 came out, bundled update xorg caused loose support quad monitors using nvidia , xinerama without use of convoluted hack/patch job. support has once again returned, it's huge hassle working, , every time breaks or upgrade, seems have start on again. and, buy using xenerama, loose of os eyecandy can running 2 monitors. tired of this... sadly, 1 feature "just works" windows, , causes me *almost* want go windows... ok, onto question. there video cards out there assist in making quad monitor setup bit easier? i've heard whispers ati has better linux support multi-monitor. has seen case? have heard buying single quad+ monitor video card work better ubuntu.
