Thread: Alsa surround51 wierd behavior

folks,

have 2 identical machines identical hardware. both machines running minimal ubuntu 12.04.

3 audio line-outs rear panel connected 6 speaker setup.

when run speaker-test on 1 machine follows, works perfectly:

$ speaker-test -c 6 -dsurround51 -t wav

can hear each individual speaker fine.

however, when run same command on second machine, here happens:

1. front-left output appears on front-left , rear-left speakers
2. front-right output appears on front-right , rear-right speakers.
3. no audio output center, rear-left, rear-right , lfe.

wondering if has idea on possibly wrong second machine setup.

machines have alsa setup only. pulse has not been installed.

thank in advance help.

regards,
peter
