Thread: 12.04 Locks DVD drive.

hello.

i've installed version. beautiful, though colors of 7.4better. installation smoother, automatically recognized (minus printer, oh well...)and monitor set right resolution.

problem is, if replace iso disk in drive maybe install application, once iso disk in, that's it. cannot retrieve if change mind. promptly starts , displays boot menu. boot menu not have exit or abort installation link. more, when trying remove disk pressing on drive's button, nothing happens.

press old dos ctrl+alt+delete keys , computer soft boots. while booting, trying eject disk pressing drive's button. nothing happens, drive remains locked.

when hard boot, can eject disk. of course no good, power supplies expensive nowadays.

why 12.04 doesn't have menu item abort installation or enable me eject disk (if forget in drive) don't quite understand, i've never encountered software didn't have command bailout.

issue: cannot run iso disk live.

if had problem, please let me know.

thank you, yours john.

i'm afraid don't understand saying.

if mean not remove bootable disk dvd drive when restart or boot machine, can hold power button stop everything, once realise.

cd or dvd non-writable file system, there no danger of corrupting cd/dvd filesystem, , should able remove , boot again.

however, when mention boot menu, presume cd/dvd boot menu, remember there being option boot first internal/hard drive, it's while since booted installation or live cd/dvd , can't remember how described. @ last boot option; may one.

apologies if have missed point, , if so, please came again better explanation of problem.
