Thread: Apache 2.2.20 on 10.04?

our vendor runs vulnerability scans failed server:

http://web.nvd.nist.gov/view/vuln/de...=cve-2011-3192

according them need upgrade 2.2.20 ( currently, 2.2.14).

code:
apt-get install -s apache2
says

code:
apache2 newest version.
i understand should not deviate package managers lot of testing ensure latest versions not cause problems. understand apache version number may not indicate additional patches have been installed. i'll run scan tonight, perhaps updated apache since failure , didn't pay close enough attention (since version number doesn't change, throws me).

assuming fails again, options? rather not deviate package managers. there devs here can give me idea when newer version of apache become available 10.04?

this ion torrent server take

had same problem ours , did patch apache2 v20 different repo. causes kinds of havoc , needed reimage it. so, cautious approach.

i'm told (and complete bunk!) security patches rolled out take care of vulnerabilities beyond version numbers (i don't understand how works), , if 1 tests known exploits in v14 rather on version number they'll find secure.

if think is, should come plan these things secure, because of use having problem , think going interfer out work moving forward.
