Thread: Gnome etc: lots of questions!
i realise i'm behind curve have upgraded ubuntu 11.10 11.04. don't use unity. i'm having trouble tweaking few bits them how before!
question 1)
why top panel not consistent uniform style way across? see attached screenshot - on left shade changes between "places" , chrome icon, , on right changes left of microphone icon. used same shade way across, please can me how was? don't want choose colour config dialogue box solid block - want retain nice graduated shading. edit - have used gimp create small sample of background want (took screenshot of menu , cropped it!) used background. still dark lines between applets though...
question 2)
date/time applet appears in centre - there way change position? - edit: have worked 1 out.
question 3)
don't need speech bubble icon next name - there way remove? have had on forums, found advice "sudo apt-get remove indicator-me" returns.code:virtual packages 'indicator-me' can't removed
question 4)
don't have microphone don't need icon - cannot find way remove icon... there way?
question 5)
using ubuntu tweak able (in 11.04) hide desktop icons, including files/folders. setting in ut seems nothing - can still see these files. use desktop temporary storage space , don't want see files!
question 6)
intermittently, when using application/places menu, menu doesn't stay visible, disappears button released - extremely annoying. when click (and release) on menu expect stay open.
question 7)
lock screen reason corrupt - see second screenshot. (i had same thing wallpaper way can change this) how can change background image, or alternatively how can make whole thing login screen? i'm sure easy in 11.04 (or previous gnome version). edit - seems have fixed somehow.
think that's now, have compiz question i'll save post. seems gnome has take step backwards!!
