Thread: Netbeans doesn't recognize project folder

i have several projects made in netbeans 7.2 installed on windows xp sp3. last week have installed xubuntu 12.10 in same machine (in different partition), , on xubuntu installed netbeans 7.2. far nothing went wrong , running smoothly.

problem i'm facing not projects i've done in netbeans on windows recognized netbeans on xubuntu, doesn't recognize project folder. why happening, why of projects recognized , others aren't recognized?

issue i'm dealing when click on 'open project' in netbeans on xubuntu, under 'look in' options none of usb thumb drives appear, i'm able work them in other application of xubuntu.

appreciate cast light on 2 issues i'm dealling with.

let me first talk how program java. installed sun java ubuntu system can compile , run java terminal. netbeans have jdk1.7_upadatexxx folder in home folder. installed netbeans 7.xx. home folder installs 2 reasons:

[1] can have multiple netbeans, e.g. netbeans se, ee , me. (i se best).
[2] installing java ubuntu file system creates issues file permissions.

folks having write/read protected program files. personally, when i'm sweating code want worry code , not files. may have file permission problem windows java code files unicode text files. nobody has sodomized unicode microsoft has. microsoft not international. microsoft localized.

now, thumb drive (and not netbeans thingy). in netbeans 'open project'. navigate way root, e.g. '/', '/media' , in folder should name of thumb drive.

on windows7 can inadvertently change thumb drive fat32 exfat. exfat totally non-interchangeable other os. when win7 says scan , fix errors on thumb --> no. fat32 format can plug-n-play other machines including cameras.

hope helps.
