Thread: Various NFS problems

hello all, hope can me.

i've setup nfs according ubuntu guide. pretty installed nfs-kernel-server , setup /etc/exports. great , working expected. can setup shares other computers. super happy.

cut next day, when run mount command on remote client, times out after few minutes. showmount -e <nfsserver> times out. sucks, logs on server say. i've got no logs. no /var/log/nfs* anything. syslog has following lines repeated:

firstly, i'd know if can tell me how turn on useful nfs logging or maybe find it. i'm losing mind not being able find anything. second, possibly why working yesterday , not today, seemingly no changes server or client.

other information:
ubuntu 12.04
showmount -e localhost on server gives:
export list localhost:
/media/data *

i've tried:
/etc/init.d/nfs-kernel-server restart

hosts.allow has:
all:all
hosts.deny empty:

firewall disabled:
ufw disable

first, absolutely eliminate firewall problem. on both machines, assuming have access both, run 'sudo iptables -l -v -n --line-numbers' , see get. testing purposes want 3 chains nothing policy accept entries. means nothing blocked. if else need checked out. make sure there not firewall involved - firewall on lan, example, traffic goes through. once know firewall not problem can begin troubleshoot other possibilities.
