Multiple users working in the same document and same time.

hello guys,

and looking this

 

at our company we're still in doubt wether or not update our software cc or update cs6. have different versions (going cs3 cs5), , that's time-consuming.

 

the important question if possible in cc work in same file @ same time.

working on magazines, catalogues or books major time-saving option!

for example work on chapter 1 , 6, whilst collegues working on other chapters.

the other users see how far on chapters, change things (make notes) etc.

 

is possible in cc or not?

short answer, no. multiple users cannot edit same file @ same time.

 

you'll need content management system, enable check in/check out, prevent overwrites etc. (there's but), creative cloud offers several workflows , tools can used streamline multi-user publication workflows.

 

using creative cloud ensure users on same version of software, , there won't accidental lockouts due format changes, , no need run arounf document downsaved. users have access latest features become availble.

 

for products, such books , magazines: indesign needs primary software use. when design content architecture of publication, can employ following techniques , tools:

• break publications several indd files, let's file each story.
• compile individual files indesign book.
• link ps , ai or other files when place them in indesign layout. way whenever designer updates asset, indesign notify linked file has changed , can choose update link.
• incopy added creative cloud. authors can can edit stories without having open indesign files. details see incopy help. incopy has several workflows can out in kind of setup.

 

 

other creative cloud apps, you'll need setup folder , directory structures on shared storage location.

• setup shared location/drive users have access linked files.
• control read/write access individual files using os commands on file directory/server. example, layout designers have edit permissions on layout (indd files); while photographers can edit .psd files, , on. small teams might not necessary, larger teams may help.
• you consider storing files using content management system. you'll need evaluate cost , benefits properly.
