Thread: Installing Ubuntu if hal.dll is "missing or corrupt"


good evening,
brand new on here have been using ubuntu (as partition on personal , work computers) quite few years. pick everyone's brains installing ubuntu on old laptop, eliminating windows altogether.

laptop in question died on me 3 years ago error "windows not start because following file missing or corrupt: windows system32 hal.dll"

wanted buy new laptop anyway excellent encouragement. question this, can install ubuntu on "dead£ laptop without reinstalling missing/corrupt hal.dll file?

have had bit of play around , can access of bios , boot menus , can pen drive light (on have saved ubuntu.iso files) doesn't seem want anything.

have idea how around this? sorry if stupid question, or if has been asked before cant anywhere @ moment.

many in advance.

linux doesn't care if .dll file there or not.

can't copy iso usb , install it.
