Thread: Help with setting up an FTP server

i'm trying set ftp server home use can download files on linux computer other devices on wifi. i've read of tutorials on forums , on other websites.
installed vsftpd , added user called "test" ubuntu. user "test" isn't system admin. account type of test "desktop user" shown in system -> admin -> users , groups
i've made changes vsftpd conf file such disabling anonymous loging, , enabling chroot_local_user.

can log in ftp server using other computer , phone , can download files without problem.
know if (a)this current configuration "safe" , (b) if it's possible change 'root' directory that's accessed server when local user logs in.
