Thread: Cannot install mercurial

hi all,

i'm having lot of trouble trying install mercurial on system. (i'm running 32 bit ubuntu 12.04.)

when try install mercurial using command,

sudo apt-get install mercurial
i message saying,

reading package lists... done
building dependency tree
reading state information... done
e: unable locate package mercurial
i looked around online , people suggested first doing update, , trying install package. tried this, same error.

suggestion make sure "universe" settings switched on or un-commented. checked , appear be.

can help? thanks!

edit: tried running,

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mercurial-ppa/releases
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install mercurial
but same error.

you can manually download debs(from http://packages.ubuntu.com/ or ppa) , use
code:
dpkg -i <package name>.deb
