Thread: Install 10.04 but get blank boot menu (only the option to boot from CD)


hi , new ubuntu.

i'm tring run 10.04 on friend's laptop. i've installed 30gs of ext 2 partition , 2gs of swap on 32gs ssd. installation went smoothly until restart.

keep getting blank boot menu option of booting cd (and hte order set hard drive boot higher ranked cd boot).

why won't laptop recognise ubuntu's installation?

how old/new computer?

bios in ahci mode? , other bios settings can make difference quickboot/fastboot should off.

ssd drive in computer? grub defaults install sda.
