Thread: Upgraded - boot only up to splash screen

this machine (32-bit) required bit of workaround: needed log unity once, switch gnome, , voila. that's fine...

other machine (64-bit) cannot past plymouth (?) splash screen. have mouse pointer, purplish-orangish splash screen, nothing else. if tap power button, shutdown options (sleep/restart/shutdown, etc...) , can recovery mode. have no idea start. suspect might have load lightdm momentarily, later switch gdm later. don't want bashing, unity has been source of of problems, 1 way or another, so...

i'm on intel® core™ i7-2600 cpu @ 3.40ghz × 8 7.7 gib of ram, 64-bit, stated. appreciated.

oh, way, can remotely access main drive way of ssh computer, worst case scenario fresh install after grabbing of files. i'd avoid this.

first, remove "splash" when boot, let see boot comments, , maybe let know whats wrong.
