Thread: stop lubuntu login screen to auto start

there 1 desktop in office dual boot running ubuntu v.10 , ms-os (boot grub). since last week, in spare time, try fix it. ms-os infected virus (what surprise), because co-worker bring children work , installed random games internet can offer. got infected. wipe out lame os.

update ubuntu kernel 3.2 , sudo apt-get install lubuntu, because unity reduce productive office duty.

first time use lubuntu, know little in how configure it...

example, every time login, got bombarded unnecessary error pop-up along request report it. how stop auto report? error not important, since after close report request, lubuntu running fine.

figure disabling as possible start-up service perhaps solve problem. mainmenu >preferences > desktop session setting offer less option gnome-desktop start-up service setting. example, want disable vnc , openssh-server, desktop session setting, can not find in desktop session setting. also, want disable auto login screen. in gnome-desktop can disable gdm in start-up setting service. there better menu in lubuntu can (mark or unmark service want run)?

when linux welcoming me terminal , asking me login shell. in gnome-desktop, type sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start, if want move desktop environment.

so..how lubuntu?

for example, every time login, got bombarded unnecessary error pop-up along request report it. how stop auto report?
if sure want ignore , disable error reporting utility, edit /etc/default/apport , change line says

enabled=1

to

enabled=0

save file , reboot.
