Thread: Gnome-keyring - Anyone know a lot about it?

can has used , understands gnome-keyring please tell me how works before install it?

i've got 1 program says wont save passwords because gnome-keyring not installed or not accessible.

little weary because limited info on net says might store ssh passwords , don't want that.

1 question is, gnome-keyring have sort of gui can configure it?

is, can configure not accept password requests programs?

interfere kde wallet?

i have "passwords & keys" software installed , has 3 tabs:

1) passwords
2) personal keys
3) public keys

software powered seahorse , integrates gnome-keyring, gnu privacy guard , ssh/ssl keystore 1 location. recommend it.

gnome-keyring repository of session passwords, uuid's , sso's , can configured hold logins across reboot. according launchpad , it's own maintainers, definition, "gnome-keyring program keeps password , other secrets users. run damon in session, similar ssh-agent, , other applications can locate environment variable.

program can manage several keyrings, each own master password, , there session keyring never stored disk, forgotten when session ends."

encrypted least login password , offers more security. if using efs $home dir have fall on well. security layered , individuals best served adding many layers infrastructure allows without sacrificing "much" performance. isn't cumbersome sounds , requires little know interaction.

hope find helpful.

if not here complete description of gnome-keyring , how works. binary command in seahorse package.

seahorse 2.30.1
