Can't download book; adobe reader shows up instead of ADE

i installed ade, when try download library books, adobe reader opens instead of ade. book doesn't show on ade nor kindle

first check if there appropriate .acsm file in downloads directory.

then open ade, , drag drop .acsm file windows explorer/mac finder onto running ade.

if works, ade working file associations wrong.

if so, follow details below.

sometimes registration of ade windows default hander .acsm , .epub files not work;

that causes double-click in explorer fail; , prevents opening browser well.

especially in windows 8/8.1, , maybe 7;

this appears bug in windows (for once not bug in ade).

two possible ways round it.

first, try force in explorer

right-click on .epub file (and repeat entire sequence .acsm if necessary)

select 'open with' if on list, 'open' if not.

select 'choose default program'

select ade if on list,

if not select 'more options' , select ade on list.

if not, @ bottom of 'more options' list 'look app on pc', select that

and navigate ade executable (may @ c:\program files\adobe\adobe digital editions\digitaleditions.exe)

now .epub/.acsm files should associated ade, , double-clicking should work.

sometimes, windows allows go through that, refuses make association have asked for.

in case, way know use third party file association program.
