Thread: Connecting two linux computers using a USB bridging cable


i wanted try transferring files between 2 linux computers using usb bridging cable. first computer desktop running ubuntu 12.04 , second computer laptop running lubuntu 12.10. i'm using belkin f5u279 usb cable. when connect computer can see interface created called usb0 on both computers. followed instructions posted on site. typed sudo ifconfig usb0 192.168.1.1 first computer , typed sudo ifconfig usb0 192.168.1.2 on laptop. however, never able make connection. both computers continually tried make connections failed , generated notification said "wired network disconnected". ideas should try next? thanks.

appreciative of takes time respond requests help; ask keep replies thread on topic of how connect 2 computers using usb bridging cable. i'm interested in. know easiest way transfer files between computers use crossover cable or connect both computers router , use ftp/samba or other of myriad of transfer options i'm aware of. i'm trying make usb briding cable connection work between 2 linux computers. nothing more.
