Thread: Installing on a 500Gb USB Toshiba HD

it has been since version 9 have used ubuntu; not because of it's shortcomings. personially believe linux far superior os windows. there software packages have run in windows such adobe premiere pro , after effects.


have partioned hardrive , ran dual boot system 1 drive. needed hardrive space know windows pig , had go windows on i7. have kept ubuntu on older amd triple core linux machine. hardrives have become inexpensive have purchased 500gb toshiba usb portable drive , install ubuntu live dvd drive can use on both i7 desktop , i5 laptop carrying hardrive computer computer.


long both systems set boot off usb first, believe can run linux without having boot windows or using dual boot loader. guess question has done (i sure many people have) , install procedure different live dvd regular install?


thinking if installed ubuntu toshiba external drive using whole drive ubuntu , both computers boot usb port first use ubuntu on both of machines without problems. have searched forums on installation procedures regarding have not found real answers.

you set system boot usb first , internal second. grub loads , gives choice of ubuntu or windows internal. if external not plugged in, bios defaults internal drive.

mention i7, windows booting in uefi or bios mode? may complicate if uefi. either should work.

if ubuntu on external can use gpt partitioning on external whether uefi or bios, windows boots internal drives , gpt partitioned drives if booting in uefi mode. windows in bios boot can read data gpt ntfs formated partitions.

either way have use manual install 1 lets choose install boot loader if in bios mode. , if in uefi have boot 64bit install in uefi mode install in uefi mode.

can give better details if know internal drive partitioning. post livecd.

sudo parted /dev/sda unit s print

up until 3pm yesterday, illustrator cs6 , photoshop cs6 worked without hitch @ 3pm, of sudden message 'could not place because source rectangle empty'. doing dragging 1 of our company logos photoshop illustrator .eps file holds our graphics. have done hundreds of timnes before , either way or highlight image in illustrator , paste photoshop. either way still getting error message.   nothing has happened in settings (that aware of) , google gives me numerous results of point @ fact may have corrupt .eps file. not case. if try , drag , drop or copy , paste various different fiele .jpg .png , .eps or .ai have same issue.   i uninstalled photoshop morning re-installed see if fix issue no such luck.   as is, affecting work , sure there workarounds ie. if go file/open , open file way works no eps file holds many seperate graphics once opened in photoshop, seperate images become 1 image.   can this? are getting problem when copying/dragging 1 specific illustrator document or affecti

Adobe Font Folio 7.0 or just 7?

someone deleted my question about adobe font folio 7. looking informations related adobe font folio 7 released march 13, 1995 , can not find ( not even a picture of original packaging). know if, later versions, called 7.0 or 7. thank much. i seem recall called adobe font folio v7.0 , , @ age memory fails me enough can't state under oath; quick google searck on precisely adobe font folio v7.0 returns bunch of hits on pirate software sites.  don't know if that's reliable enough you, until adobe staff chimes in, that's best got far.  More discussions in Type & Typography adobe
