Thread: Update Instillation Interrupted - No boot

hi... today broke system trying upgrade ubuntu 10.04 12.04. going fine, upgrade downloaded, half way through instillation , *power cut*. attempted boot system and boot failure message...

code:
udevd[67]: error: runtime directory '/run/udev' not writable, falling '/dev/.udev' gave waiting root device. common problems: -boots args (cat /proc/cmdline) - check rootdelay= (did system wait right device?) - missing modules (cat /proc/modules; ls/dev) alert! /dev/dsk/by-uuid/eb8ccee2-1d19-4979-8797-bd36f313c3e2 not exist. dropping shell! busybox v1.13.3 (ubuntu 1:1.13.3-1ubuntu11)) built in shell (ash) (initramfs)_
luckily enough have 10/04 live cd handy use "try ubuntu" feature gain access internet.

i'd grateful if me this!

did before updating? if not, can open of old partitions livecd , data?

if you're backed start new clean install, should boot after that. think problem updater in middle of changing when interrupted, , stuff isn't old install expecting be.
