Thread: installing 12.10 from ISO USB stick - graphics driver problem

hi,

attempting install ubuntu 12.10 64-bit desktop install iso on usb stick hp 8540w laptop. installer boots , shows purple ubuntu splash screen loading progress indicator. however, when gets part expect graphical installer interface displayed screen gets corrupted (mostly white scattering of geometric hash patterns). after while falls text screen gives error messages like:

[drm] nouveau ... failed idle channel 2
[drm] nouveau ... pgraph tlb flush idle timeout fail: ...

cycles through <corrupted screen> <error messages>.

presume problem nvidia graphics hardware , driver. there way modify boot parameters in installation iso sticks safe graphics mode during installation?

or maybe issue else entirely. suggestions gratefully received.

during testing of quantal users nvidia cards having success booting removing "splash" boot parameters, when confronted corrupted graphics.

when booting live desktop iso, after first purple screen appears, , little man , keyboard icon appears hit key, choose language, , think accept 1 other thing hitting enter, see choices, ignore , hit f6 change boot parameter, removing splash, continue boot live desktop , install.

first time booting installed os, when see grub menu hit "e" , edit boot parameters removing splash again, "ctrl x" boot desktop install nvidia driver , should go.

under impression fixed final release, maybe not hardware,

hope helps...
