Bounding box much larger than object?

hello all,

 

ive been working on project in illustrator day or 2 now. of sudden, objects, both preexisting , newly created, have large purple bounding box regardless of layer belong (pictured below).

 

in order alter size of object, have find corner of large bounding box. have feeling may setting hit began happening after fiddling around adding more artboards.

 

any know going on this? appreciated!

do have grouped point or object off side? (sometimes can happen when scaling.)

 

have tried clicking on object white arrow, cutting, , pasting in front?

 

also, have tried copying artwork (with white arrow) , pasting on new file?
