Thread: Hushmail java app - no joy in ubuntu 12.04

i have used hushmail several years. last year half-migrated ubuntu, prefer solid performance less resource , memory use on older machines. there still applications run on xp partition, , don't feel running windows inside linux. no need.

here short of it. hushmail java encryption engine not load, nor applet initialize in ubuntu 12.04.1 lts. neither java 6 nor 7 allow applet load nor run.

when run lucid puppy 5.2.8 (even faster ubuntu, slimmed way down), firefox 7 jre 1.6 (java 6) load , run hushmail's java encryption applet locally in flash. know ubuntu 12.04 problem, not linux problem. nevertheless, in lucid puppy, firefox pops window stating jre 1.6 has been known cause stability issues in firefox, , firefox tries disable it. have never had issues firefox , jre 1.6 in lucid puppy. hushmail java problems occur in ubuntu.

in ubuntu, have uninstalled jdk 7 , reinstalled 6, no joy. have reinstalled 7, no joy. in fact either java version, every time itry run hushmail's java encryption applet, crashes firefox.

beginning see lot of these hushmail java vs. ubuntu posts on internet. there must solution. there no problem whatsoever in windows xp, nor in lucid puppy when using hushmail's java applet, in ubuntu.

relatively new linux, , weak in code , terminal use. cut teeth on fortran, , later on dos. gui interface of ubuntu , migrate when sorted , there no differences in user friendliness between xp , ubuntu, since ubuntu more robust , old pcs run fast on linux based os's.

there quick , easy solution hushmail compatibility thing ubuntu?

i've used hushmail before .. on windows os rather ubuntu.

having upgraded ubuntu 12.04 .. , reading thread .. i've created new account hushmail far first test message works o.k in firefox 16.0.1.

java -version
java version "1.6.0_24"
openjdk runtime environment (icedtea6 1.11.4) (6b24-1.11.4-1ubuntu0.12.04.1)
openjdk server vm (build 20.0-b12, mixed mode)

up until 3pm yesterday, illustrator cs6 , photoshop cs6 worked without hitch @ 3pm, of sudden message 'could not place because source rectangle empty'. doing dragging 1 of our company logos photoshop illustrator .eps file holds our graphics. have done hundreds of timnes before , either way or highlight image in illustrator , paste photoshop. either way still getting error message.   nothing has happened in settings (that aware of) , google gives me numerous results of point @ fact may have corrupt .eps file. not case. if try , drag , drop or copy , paste various different fiele .jpg .png , .eps or .ai have same issue.   i uninstalled photoshop morning re-installed see if fix issue no such luck.   as is, affecting work , sure there workarounds ie. if go file/open , open file way works no eps file holds many seperate graphics once opened in photoshop, seperate images become 1 image.   can this? are getting problem when copying/dragging 1 specific illustrator document or affecti

Adobe Font Folio 7.0 or just 7?

someone deleted my question about adobe font folio 7. looking informations related adobe font folio 7 released march 13, 1995 , can not find ( not even a picture of original packaging). know if, later versions, called 7.0 or 7. thank much. i seem recall called adobe font folio v7.0 , , @ age memory fails me enough can't state under oath; quick google searck on precisely adobe font folio v7.0 returns bunch of hits on pirate software sites.  don't know if that's reliable enough you, until adobe staff chimes in, that's best got far.  More discussions in Type & Typography adobe
