Thread: software for adding subtitles to Mac-made .mov video

hello,
have .mov video file created on mac.
need subtitle in lubuntu or ubuntu 12.04, don't have mac.
so, i'm looking recommendations software best use (please gui programs only, man page illiterate).
seem have figured out needs demuxed first? necessary convert it, or can on linux pc while keeping original format?
in software-world of dreams, i'd open file is, i'd have gui frames video, , i'd type in subtitles right there, set them each show frame frame b, save , done. not using apple quicktime.
thanks, ben

if use vlc player, can soft-sub easily.

know can name file same video watching example,

tron.mkv (name of video file) tron.srt (name of sub-titles)

, add time-stamps , subs want.

simple as.

00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:03,000
where... type whatever want

2
00:00:03,001 --> 00:00:06,000
, boom appears on screen
3
00:00:06,001 --> 00:00:09,000
see
4
00:00:10,000 --> 00:00:13,074

5
00:00:30,248 --> 00:00:31,880
kevin flynn: grid.

6
00:00:33,612 --> 00:00:35,925
