Thread: Stumped by Skype


hello,

installed 12.04 , not seem find skype anywhere in software center. went skype's site, downloaded there (of course opened ubuntu software center) , skype opens, , can make calls, no audio works (despite working on youbube , rhythm box). ran command check see if drivers sound card in order, , appears are. strangest thing yet, when go "installed" in software center, skype no found, despite being on machine.

if advice appreciated.

skype in canonical's partners repository, not enabled default, have check box in software centre enable (just poke around find it, since don't use sc don't know is, use synaptic, in synaptic go settings > repositories > other software check box)

audio, install gnome alsa mixer software centre , try settings, have capture muted or something.
