Thread: RAID 6 installation - Did I do it right?

before installation of 12.04 server read lot on forum raid install , problems grub not being able boot other raid 1 array. had no problem @ installation on raid 6 array (5 disks) using mdadm.

did using alternate 12.04 cd:

1. choose manual partion
2. wipe 5 drives
3. assign drives raid 6 array
4. create lvm volume group , assign the raid 6 array group
5. create 3 volumes; boot, swap , /
6. installed grub (grub2)

boots without problems. seems true, did forgot anything?

no, seems right.

raid problems grub affecting fakeraid seems, not software raid (mdadm). on top of that, since live cd can see fakeraid, people keep using install despite recommendation use alternate cd raid.

alternate installs grub on fakeraid without problems, live cd fails this.
