Thread: How to initialize a blank CD/DVD "Like a USB Flash Drive"

greetings everyone,

because curious feature since friend showed me way write cd-r never heard of. makes feel can create files, delete files, etc, , keep adding files time , time again, of course until full.

showed me how creates under windows, , upon inserting blank disk, have 'normal' option of burning cd/dvd (write-once) or option use disk "like usb flash drive"

method under windows vista/7 looks this:

researched , understand filesystem udf+vat, , vat allows flexibility of adding more files , marking files deleted.

these older threads, can see has been poorly-supported filesystem beyond basic udf (write-once, read-only) capabilities.

big question is:

  • are there changes ubuntu allow me create same udf vat filesystem on blank cd/dvd? or utility can install task?



using udf+vat filesystems after initialization

have tested out blank dvd-r initialized under windows "like usb flash drive". added files in 2 separate sessions. tried out dvd in dvd-rw drive under ubuntu. news can read files session #1 , session#2 if had been burned in 1 sitting. bad news is, far seems cannot mount rw, though inserted dvd-r drive.

opened dvd under k3b, , showed previous 2 sessions, , appeared allow me option of writing 3rd session. however, didn't carry completion because presented blank filelist add (i expecting see current filesystem tree). looks k3b add files in isolated way. isn't wanted. if have "folder_01" containing file , file b, able add file c exact same folder under windows file manager. feature makes flexible compared standard burning, mix new files various existing folders.

so, next big question

  • is there way make desired changes windows-formatted udf+vat filesystems, write, example, 3rd session test dvd under ubuntu? or there third-party program can this?


also, don't know version number of udf windows creating method... there way see that?

up until 3pm yesterday, illustrator cs6 , photoshop cs6 worked without hitch @ 3pm, of sudden message 'could not place because source rectangle empty'. doing dragging 1 of our company logos photoshop illustrator .eps file holds our graphics. have done hundreds of timnes before , either way or highlight image in illustrator , paste photoshop. either way still getting error message.   nothing has happened in settings (that aware of) , google gives me numerous results of point @ fact may have corrupt .eps file. not case. if try , drag , drop or copy , paste various different fiele .jpg .png , .eps or .ai have same issue.   i uninstalled photoshop morning re-installed see if fix issue no such luck.   as is, affecting work , sure there workarounds ie. if go file/open , open file way works no eps file holds many seperate graphics once opened in photoshop, seperate images become 1 image.   can this? are getting problem when copying/dragging 1 specific illustrator document or affecti

Adobe Font Folio 7.0 or just 7?

someone deleted my question about adobe font folio 7. looking informations related adobe font folio 7 released march 13, 1995 , can not find ( not even a picture of original packaging). know if, later versions, called 7.0 or 7. thank much. i seem recall called adobe font folio v7.0 , , @ age memory fails me enough can't state under oath; quick google searck on precisely adobe font folio v7.0 returns bunch of hits on pirate software sites.  don't know if that's reliable enough you, until adobe staff chimes in, that's best got far.  More discussions in Type & Typography adobe
