Thread: grub rescue on boot after disk error

lately, i've been having ubuntu crashing randomly.. goes read mode, once restart it's working again.

today happened again , had manually shut computer down.

i'm not able boot anymore. following when turning computer on:

error: unknown filesystem
, i'm left @ "grub rescue".

booted live cd , installed "boot-repair". when run it says "no os has been found on computer", gives me no option carry out fixes.

boot repair generated following output shows errors: http://paste.ubuntu.com/1348224/

idea on how fix this?

ubuntu 12.10 64 bits

update:

-i'm trying mount /dev/sda1 using: sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt

mount thinks it's ntfs file system, not!! sda1 ext4 file system, don't have windows installed @ all! error command:

ntfs signature missing.
failed mount '/dev/sda1': invalid argument
device '/dev/sda1' doesn't seem have valid ntfs. maybe wrong device used? or whole disk instead of partition (e.g. /dev/sda, not /dev/sda1)? or other way around?

hi fariazz.

i'm no linux expert. have emailed yannubuntu@gmail.com per error message output on line 182 (assuming have method of emailing) ?

quote: no os has been found on computer. please report message yannubuntu@gmail.com

luck,
