Thread: grub error: no such partition - grub rescue>


hello, i'm having problem starting laptop; error shown as:

grub error: no such partition
grub rescue>

or similar. how go around this?

managed hands on ubuntu 12.04 bootable usb using troubleshoot. wireless connection fails on it, however.i used partitioning manager software in w7 resize c: partition, after deleting 2 ntfs partitions this. told me restart computer, , how got error.
after performing sudo fdisk -l, partitions in place. can not post full details, similar got:

/dev/sda1 * hpfs/ntfs/exfat
/dev/sda2 hpfs/ntfs/exfat
/dev/sda3 w95 ext'd (lba)
/dev/sda4 hidden ntfs winre
/dev/sda5 linux swap/solaris
/dev/sda6 linux
/dev/sda7 linux swap/solaris

/dev/sdb1 w95 fat32
i'm trying restore grub bootloader (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1014708), unsure of partition should use (sda5,6 or 7).
