hello, installed 12.04 , not seem find skype anywhere in software center. went skype's site, downloaded there (of course opened ubuntu software center) , skype opens, , can make calls, no audio works (despite working on youbube , rhythm box). ran command check see if drivers sound card in order, , appears are. strangest thing yet, when go "installed" in software center, skype no found, despite being on machine. if advice appreciated. best mack skype in canonical's partners repository, not enabled default, have check box in software centre enable (just poke around find it, since don't use sc don't know is, use synaptic, in synaptic go settings > repositories > other software check box) audio, install gnome alsa mixer software centre , try settings, have capture muted or something. hi, i've bought new pc following configuration: - asus p8h77-v motherboard - i5 processor - amd radeon hd6450 dual monitor (dvi+vga) ... - microsoft keyboard , mouse (wireless desktop 800) i've been trying several days setup correctly: - on install (12.04 64-bit), network not recognized (fixed installing linux backports modules) - nor unity neither gnome shell recognizes dual monitor after installing fglrx (had move xfce) now, seems working fine except mouse , keyboard, randomly (or apparently random) have lag. mouse stops moving smoothly , keyboard stops responding (and after while enters of keys i've pressed together). it's not freeze, become extremely laggish. i've been looking solution couldn't find one. mb's box says supports linux latest kernel versions. however, when tried install kernel 3.4+, graphic card stop working, fglrx drivers don't support newest kernels. ideas? thanks! ...

after having succesfully consolidated multiple catalogs, how consolidate different previews.lrdata folders/files?   i have combined many catalogs 1 "mastercatalog" database still have dozen previews.lrdata folders spread on multiple hard drives.   how or should combine them 1 larger folder on same drive? previews "mastercatalog" correct, , combination of of individual previews existed previously.   the thing can previews other catalogs delete them via operating system, shouldn't problem. i have been using cs3 few years, , couple of weeks ago indesign program having troubles, uninstalled programs, , tried reinstall disc, there error messages , not reinstall.  cleaned adobe files off system using windows 7.  tips reinstall cs3?   paul run cleaner tool ( cs cleaner tool installation problems | ccm, cs6, cs5.5, cs5, cs4, cs3 ) sure cs3 gone, run msconfig , turn off unnecessary startup programs , services, ant-virus , malware scanners, instant messengers, browser helpers , toolbars (but leave bonjour running if it's in list) , reboot. if see message running in diagnostic mode on reboot, cancel msconfig, run installer (and using normnally disabled administrator account won't hurt, either). after installation can run msconfig again , return normal startup. so playing around launcher in ubuntu 12.04 using gnome-session-fallback , accidentally deleted few things. wanted return panel original state. after googling, read go ~/.config/gnome-session/saved-session/ , delete in there accomplish this. unfortunately there nothing in directory. removing , re-installing gnome-session-fallback doesn't return default, either. can please point me in right direction? thanks. when "original state" mean default after installing gnome-panel , gnome-session-fallback , or want how had configured yourself? if want default after installation think can remove (or perhaps rename) hidden ~/.gconf folder ~/.config/dconf folder. if want way had changed yourself, suspect need reconfigure it, unless had made backup of /home. i use wd external hard drive storing music , video ubuntu laptop , have started using old mac mini wd ehd itunes/apple tv , ipod etc. (iknow, know....) mac recognizes ehd laptop , can load mp3s it, while recognizes avi s, itunes won't have them. puzzle when have converted avi s mp4s (which itunes graciously accept) if create new folder them on ehd laptop, mac cannot see it. if leave mp4s can see them - why should putting them in folder render them invisible? not problem since can files ehd itunes, i'd know why. i'd grateful if can explain me (in simple terms!) what operating system using create folder? ubuntu or mac? whereas, when convert audio files use mac, , sees them. recognises files created not folder ubuntu created. guess. regards. ok yesterday upgraded laptop ubuntu 11.somthing 12.04. don't have wireless capabilities anymore , when bring terminal nothing shows it's open can't see going on it. me terminal issue have search , seems nobody else has had problem. can fix wireless if had terminal. have alot of homework done , don't have time this thank in advance. you should able virtual console pressing ctrl-alt-f1 (f2, f3, etc.). should able login , fix wireless. terminal issue may related graphics card, should post hardware specs. i trying find way set default gconf , dconf settings users. know in /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas has xml files settings. changed settings in xml files root , created new user , settings did not transfer. under /etc/skel not have local user settings. want default gtk theme, fonts users. how can that? using 12.04.1 i may not understanding want do, if so--sorry. other users have own separate system. run default until change it. can share docs, files, folders, etc., settings? don't think so, if i'm wrong i'm learning too. someone made widget preloader customization pretty limited. cool create widget allow create customised preloader. personally preloader widget available. it's simple, clean , modern. can change text , color of graphic , background. preloaders designed let user know page active. try design size of sites there no need preloader (even large amount of images). there nothing worse in day of fast internet of having watch preloader spin. unless preloader can convey useful information product/services of company/person (for me) becomes annoying.   just 2 cents. where graphic come baked published flash??!??!     i found png's same hidden inside captivate program itself. on mac can right click on captivate program icon , choose "show content" (or similar). you'll find png's in "content/framework/cpquizzing.framework/resources/". but: 1. takes effect on new created projects. 2. edited graphics visible in captivate when editing. not when exported flash. hi all,   i creating full screen slideshow first time.   i have added slideshow deisgn mode , looks fine. however, once in preview or preview in browser mode image @ fullscreen seems zoomed in or cropped tighter. the slideshow images set fill frame proportionally. have tried experimenting different settings, page sizes, changing margins, changing header/footer guides, different image sizes etc... no success.   i on 27-inch (2560 x 1440) imac.   help???   i have attached 2 images show mean. notice in preview mode how image appears tighter/cropped/magnified.     thanks the image appears @ 100% resolution while browser doesn't seem tall enough accommodate areas being cropped. i installed creative cloud , dreamweaver - edited few php / html / javascript  files on server - dreamweaver had added thousands of blank lines code. take days clean them out , can't seem find "find , replace" or "regular expression" remove these... first of all... giving me headache... , now.... how frig rid of these??? are saying edited files directly on server?  or did edit local files & upload them?    i've never experienced i'm wondering if carriage return settings might account this.  see screenshot. hit ok.  go commands > apply source formatting.   best of luck!     nancy o.
