hello, upgraded xubuntu 11.10 12.04 (mainly able use new wacom bamboo-pen, wasn't recognised 11.10). configured gimp able use pressure sensitivity. works should, except when try save or save-as file created in or opened in gimp (version 2.6). dialogwindow thunar (version 1.2.3) opens up, when try choose map save in, thunar freezes. can close thunar clicking on x. saving drawing possible closing gimp , then, in warning-window, choosing save. works fine. after experimenting found out when go "preferences/input devices/configure extended input devices" , reset mode bamboo pen "disconnected" in stead of "screen", works fine again, but... can't use pressure sensitivity anymore. use gimp quite lot, workaround problem me. re-installing gimp didn't help. if knows answer short of re-installing whole xubuntu, should grateful, yann Forum The Ubuntu Forum Community Ubuntu Offici...

i used windows installer , installed ubuntu 12.04 , allowed 30 gig max, 30 gig partition , have c: partition of 128 gig , d: partition of 135 gig. installed on d: partition. hola, sóc un usuari amateur de l'ubuntu. estic intentant instal·lar-lo un portàtil vell de la meva veina, és un compaq nx9005. inserit el cd de l'ubuntu 10.04 pensava després actualitzar-lo amb l'ultima versió través del gestor d'actualitzacions. el cert és que segueixo totes les passes que em diu, faig les particions o en altres intents faig; "esborra el disc utilitza'l per complet". tant amb particions com sense, quan comença instal·lar-se es troba al 15% del procés em surt un missatge d'error on diu: imput/output error during read on /dev/sda provat també d'instal·lar l'ubuntu 9.04 alternate em surt el mateix error. que algú sap què pot ser? fins aviat aquest missatge pot ser degut diverses causes: 1) alguna configuració del bios de l'ordinador, com ara una contrasenya per accedir o una opció de sata que no correspon. si pots entrar la configuració del bios ...

i did code: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade like have done thousands of times before , seemed go smoothly, installed new kernel (i had 3.2.0-32 , installed 3.2.0-33). rather huge upgrade no error @ all, went fine. before upgraded removed old kernels except 1 running (3.2.0-32). ran upgrade. attached below log /var/log/apt/term.log. can seen there no error. *ran* update-grub , found 2 kernels. after rebooted. , greeted empty grub 1.99 prompt (no boot menu) , unfortunately dvd drive broken , no bootable usb drive around too. began sweating blood @ moment. managed make boot again doing following on grub prompt (i used old kernel intentionally, not newly installed one, seems new 1 have done too) code: linux /boot/vmlinuz-3.2.0-32-generic root=/dev/sda1 boot and after successful boot did in terminal: code: sudo update-grub2 and did nothing else, thing did, rebooted again , ok again, grub2 boot menu used , both of kernels bootin...
