Thread: microphone not working

the microphone in ubuntu not working, i'm unable use microphone apps sound recorder, skype, etc.,. i've installed pavucontrol , tried various options in didn't work. i'm having 12.04 installed in samsung n100sp netbook. here's system info on sound devices:-

lspci | grep audio
00:1b.0 audio device: intel corporation n10/ich 7 family high definition audio controller (rev 02)

aplay -l

kindly assist me solve problem.

in advance.

1. open sound preferences. there device in input tab?

2. if there device in 1., make sure it's not muted.

3. in not, try adding following alsa optios:

code:

options snd-hda-intel  model=laptop-amic

to that, open config file editin with

code:

gksu gedit /etc/modprobe.d/asla-base.conf

...add optiion line bottom, save , exit.

reboot see if has effect. repeat steps 1 , 2 if necessary.
