Thread: X quits on login with gdm, lightdm doesn't load

here's interesting one. fine last night, did update, shut down.

started morning, gdm loads, log in -> gdm. hmm.
console, service stop gdm, service start lightdm. lightdm doesn't load (similar missing or unbuilt kernel module fglrx).
reinstall fglrx, same thing.
remove xorg.conf load oss driver. same thing. getting weird.

console, login, startx:
xinit: connection x server lost.

/var/log/xorg.0.log:
server terminated (0). closing log file.

so, um, x loading quitting? looking @ last update history:

i doubt it's due torchlight. egl? wayland? other ideas?

argh, it's profile issue. bit of weird 1 though.

created new user , can run startx successfully, , gdm load correctly. however, lightdm still not load, presume because it's trying load wallpaper usual user account.

so, it's case of locating wallpaper setting; allow me start x.
