Building NLE system - HD setup clarifications
hey guys,
i'm build new system in order rid of q9550.
i've been reading harm's website lot, in order find compromise between performances , price.
i edit heavy dslr or avchd codecs on premiere cs6 upgraded cc, , avc-intra multicam (up 5) projects.
the biggest project i've had 500gb, work 60 100gb project @ time.
every clip gets 4 or 5 layers of effects (colorista, misfire grain/vignette, twitch etc.) before exporting.
the system i've in mind far based on harm's budget warrior low-end:
cpu: 4930k
mb: p9x79-e ws
gc: gtx660 2gb
(psu, case etc adequate)
- first question ram.
i'm looking @ 4x8gb (cosidering possibility of expanding 64gb total in future) frequency should use?
1866mhz or 2133mhz. i've seen rams seems me gaming-oriented rather ws oriented - should worry that? particular suggestion?
- the second hd setup.
i've read lot raid systems. i'm trying avoid raid controller save money, , i've came instead:
- os+programs+pagefile: ssd 256gb (i have this)
- media cache: ssd 120gb
- projects: ssd 120gb
- preview + exports: ssd 256gb
- media files: hd 2x2tb in raid 0
- backup: external e-sata hhds
every ssd 500mb/s read/write. configuration i'd spend around 600euro in storage (backup included), , i'll have 500mb/s system, 275 mb/s media files hds.
i haven't seen hypotesys mine around, i'm wondering: what i've thought wrong?
i feel i'm overlooking here.
any appreciated, lot!
michele
i'd exports can go slowest drive, don't need ssd those.
