Thread: Question about dd issue
admittedly, question more related distro , may not apply ubuntu (which use) distro's website down , imagine here know correct answer.
use dd clone usb thumb drives bootable (meaning have bootable copy of linux distro on them). these source usb's not liveusb installations; regular linux installations usb drive. when clone 1 of these, use target usb drive of exact same size, model, , manufacturer, try , eliminate problems. 1 thing i've noticed distros (like centos, think), 1 issue still comes up. usb drives have serial number burned them , distros, 3 of files utilized during bootup have entries in them describe drive being used , description includes drive's serial number. thus, if don't edit these 3 files , change old serial number current serial number of clone, linux won't boot up.
problem don't remember 3 files include information or files located within linux filesystem. can provide me information?
pretty sure have edit 1 file
/etc/fstab
sudo blkid
show uuid's of each device
