Thread: ATI 7730 and Ubuntu 12.10
i have installed kubuntu 12.10 on new laptop, has ati radeon 7730.
following guide propritory graphics drivers working
http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/ubu...e#command_line
did this:
sudo apt-get install fglrx fglrx-amdcccle
this:
sudo amdconfig --initial -f
seemed brake everything, , got command line interface on reboot.
reinstalled kubuntu, , used minimal config xorg.conf file
section "device"
identifier "ati radeon 7730"
driver "fglrx"
endsection
tried forcing xorg use new xorg.conf file:
sudo amdconfig --input=/etc/x11/xorg.conf --tls=1
gave error message
decided test whether driver working with
fglrxinfo
isen't working. not sure else can do, can help?
edit: 1 further question, if mess , command line interface again, there command can use delete xorg.conf file, , avoid reinstalling again?
similar problem here ati5770 card , fglrx driver on ubuntu 12.10 (64bit)
first reboot unity login screen appeared, wallpaper, no
menu bar , icons.
used ctrl-alt-f2 broke alternate console , typed
lsmod
fglrx module had not been created. using 64bit , this. kernel headers must included , did 1 message synaptic had been removed.
regarding /etc/x11/xorg.conf not required kernel mode settings used instead. running aticonfig --initial gnerate xorf.conf if present read, should work without one.
post when have more info.
