Can an AI action name a variable?

i've searched high , low no luck. i'm making action folks @ work use (i'm not versed enough in scripting script want do, action passable), , part of action adds variable open document. thing is, variable has named thing , keeps defaulting variable1.

 

currently have set create variable, open variable window , have stop note on do, if there's way re-name variable in action that'd best (i need as... well, lack of better term/phrase, idiot-proof possible).

 

bonus question: without using script, possible have ai action delete existing variable? i.e. if there's variable named 'test' default, can have action delete 'test' variable? tried recording didn't , wasn't able consistent results.

i think, not possible action.

 

but can remove variable 'test' (must present) scriptline:

app.activedocument.variables.getbyname ('test').remove ();
