Thread: Can't shut down my computer

my son in law called round today whilst @ work , used computer. dunno has done , when select shutdown, computer doesn't shutdown, goes login screen. i've checked settings , convinced should shutdown when select turn computer off. ideas ?? thing can @ moment force hard shutdown using power button on computer (which i'm loathe keep doing)
