so have installed latest version of ubuntu , need here.

pretty got set-up audio part. hear audio , mic works. can not figure out how make mic capture audio , not play through own speakers.

clarify want mic work mumble not want have listen self. in windows there box have press. doesnt seem simple option here.

please help.

so had ask friends find 1 knew linux. easy don't understand why didn’t point me in right direction. thread did have on 100 views after all.

anyways answer problem alsamixer.(what it? not sure seems better version of audio control built in gui)

here guide in-case others having issue. or want cause problem having.

run terminal
sudo alsamixer(it ask password usual
press f6 , select audio hardware.
press f5(all) capture , playback devices(though u press f4 capture only
assuming pressed f5 have 2 mic sections. 1 labelled capture. don’t touch one.
lower value of other 1 0(arrow keys)
incase of wanting hear own voice(increass 50 100 depending on desired sound lvl.
(these changes done in real time if change , dont have desired effect undo them , try slider)
close alsamixer once done.

pretty simple once gives place start. hopes helps else
