Thread: where it blocks the request to a site?

hello everyone! i'm doing experiments run servers generally, services.
need able connect internet "the pc" connected server can not.
on server installed linux distribution called smoothwall.
question is: how test see problem connection? in part of chain broken request network site? see if problem of ports or something?
have verified computer able ping server , other verified server able ping internet (with ip of google)

1. make sure have forward policy accept on smoothwall (not sure if that's call policy). needs allow forwarding through it.

2. need enable ip_forward in /etc/sysctl.conf on server. don't know whether smoothwall that. until forwarding enabled server not forward packets between external , internal interface.

ps. suggest use iptables directly, , not smoothwall. looks @ first glance, has limitations later, depending want it. iptables more flexible , easier set up, although might not @ start.
