Thread: eth1 interface "loses" its address after a while

i'm using ubuntu on virtualbox, think not important in case.

when use command
code:
sudo ifconfig eth1 192.168.2.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.2.255 up
interface works expected, in fact can ping other (virtual) machines on same subnet.

after while (even if don't perform action) seems interface "loses" ipv4 configuration, in fact output of
code:
ifconfig
is

can see, line of ipv4 configuration absent.

why? how can resolve?
