Thread: Preferable video cards?

so, i've been lurking in forums 2 years now, first time post (no need to, since has been asked).

more inquiry troubleshooting.
i'm planning buy new laptop soon, im not sure gpu use(cpu , ram shouldnt problem), far between:
intel hd graphics 3000 (sandy bridge gpu)
intel hd graphics 4000 (ivy bridge gpu)
nvidia gt 520m.

of course, don't expect heavy gaming on of those, want play left4dead 2 (probably heaviest game im gonna try).
supposedly, of 3 can handle (at degree @ least),and have been compared, but, expected, comparisons found based on windows systems, , since performance can vary drivers, wasn't sure how these comparisons reflected on linux.

so, concrete questions be:
there preferable brand of gpu?
how gpus perform on linux , proyected in near future?
how should take results of tests windows?
subjective/objective opinion appreciated.

offtopic: im rather excited steam - left4dead2 port linux

new mobile units work best on ubuntu +1 version, wireless (which won't work when ubuntu +1 releases normal release.)

intel graphics not work games.
