Thread: brother mfc scanner and sane: out of memory error
here's setup:
- brand new brother mfc-j280w
- connected usb debian squeeze server running sane.d
- 2 ubuntu laptops running 12.04 , 12.10 respectively
systems setup scan on network using sane.d old scanner , worked without hitch.
installed brscan , brscan-skey drivers on server , configured according brother's instructions.
works:
- scanner detected scanimage, sane-find-scanner, , xsane both on server , clients
- can acquire images @ low (< 300 dpi ) resolution on server using xsane or scanimage
- can acquire images @ *lower* resolutions (~100 dpi) on clients using scanimage
doesn't work:
- can't acquire images @ high resolution anywhere; on server "sane_read: error during device i/o" , scanner messed until reset.
- can't acquire images xsane on network clients, "out of memory" errors, when resulting scan small (~10-30mb).
- can't preview. on server takes forever (much longer actual scan). on clients gives "out of memory" error.
can give me advice on this?
