Thread: brother mfc scanner and sane: out of memory error
here's setup: - brand new brother mfc-j280w - connected usb debian squeeze server running sane.d - 2 ubuntu laptops running 12.04 , 12.10 respectively systems setup scan on network using sane.d old scanner , worked without hitch. installed brscan , brscan-skey drivers on server , configured according brother's instructions. works: - scanner detected scanimage, sane-find-scanner, , xsane both on server , clients - can acquire images @ low (< 300 dpi ) resolution on server using xsane or scanimage - can acquire images @ *lower* resolutions (~100 dpi) on clients using scanimage doesn't work: - can't acquire images @ high resolution anywhere; on server "sane_read: error during device i/o" , scanner messed until reset. - can't acquire images xsane on network clients, "out of memory" errors, when resulting scan small (~10-30mb). - can't preview. on server takes forever (m...
