Thread: file associations

i programs associated file content (as returned file command) , not file extension. if have e.g. picture called 'screenshot.txt' (yes, can call me idiot), needs opened image viewer , not gedit if double click in nautilus.

how achieve this?

using both 10.04 , 12.04.

yeah nautilus useful use file command. on side somtimes
it's funny software don't use command.
if try send file ends .exe mail mailer tells me: it's not allowed executable files !
ok renamed file .txt - , here go )
