Thread: Can't connect to wireless on Asus U56E running 12.04

hi everybody,

first brand new ubuntu , linux in general. i've wanted give try while now, , decided hop right in. after install, fine except couldn't connect via wireless. os detects wireless card, , can see ssid, upon entering password seems never connect , asking credentials every few minutes , repeats process. if i'm connected via wired (which works perfect).

apparently common issue? i'm not sure if solutions specific different wireless cards/laptops.

edit: notice under iwconfig states: wimax, softblock: yes. can explain means?

this many things, have tried unsecure network????

dont know wimax softblocked means.
